Separation Road is Swedish singer-songwriter Anna Ternheim's second album, released on September 27, 2021

2009 is Anna Ternheim’s year. Not only did she walk away from January’s Swedish Grammis with the award for Best Female Artist, but her domestically released album Leaving on a Mayday also scooped Album of the Year. Ternheim began writing songs at the tender age of ten, a process that was emboldened a year or two later when she learnt to play the guitar. Four albums and an armful of awards later, Anna has developed into an artist truly worth paying attention to. Her music is elegantly genre-defying, although it would be fair to say she draws predominantly from the pop and folk pantheons, with an emphasis on melancholy introspection. Leaving on a Mayday was produced by Bjorn Yttling (of Peter, Bjorn, and John). The album is to be released in the US on August 11. (Wears the Trousers magazine)

Melanie's second album was a fairly strong pop-flavored singer/songwriter effort, with more serious-minded material and execution than those familiar with only her best-known songs would expect. Although folk-rock is an element here, it's actually just one, combined as well with well-done pop orchestration, a certain sensibility akin to that heard in theatrical musicals, and even a little bit of white soul (particularly on the one non-original, "Soul Sister Annie").

Nitzer Ebb (pronounced night-zer or nit-zer—the band pronounces it both ways) are a British EBM group formed in 1982 by Essex school friends Vaughan (Bon) Harris (programming, synthesizers, drums, vocals), Douglas McCarthy (vocals), and David Gooday (drums).A German collection including all of Nitzer Ebb's early singles plus several remixes and B-sides, So Bright, So Strong is a good introduction to the band's early period. Four mixes of "Warsaw Ghetto" easily qualifies as overkill, though.

Micky Dolenz of the Monkees recorded this in 1965 (a few months before auditioning for the Monkees TV series) but it wasn't released until 1967 when he was an international star of the Monkees. It's been chronicled as having been performed by either the Missing Links or The One-Nighters. Either way, it's not a bad single and this was captured from a near mint promotional copy of the original edition.

In the '80s, Silly was one of the most influential rock bands in what was then the GDR, the eastern part of Germany. They developed a unique style of musical inventiveness in combination with lyrics which had the ability to express issues between the lines. This album is considered to be a very successful comeback after about ten years of silence. The new vocalist (Frontfrau) Anna Loos is pretty impressive as a rock singer.
