The Sword/Witchcraft is a split extended play (EP) by American heavy metal band The Sword and Swedish doom metal band Witchcraft, released in the United States on November 13, 2007. The EP was limited to 500 copies pressed on black vinyl, 1,000 copies pressed on green marble vinyl and 1,000 copies pressed on purple marble vinyl.

This band reminds me the almighty Witchfinder General, amazing trad doom melodies with NWOBHM style vocals. Great album!

On Funeral Wings came shortly after the forceful Darkness Death Doom, and was the second album officially created by the incarnation of Runemagick as a vile death/ doom band rather than a gloomy death metal band. The music of Runemagick still takes the form of hulking, disease-ridden doom that lumbers along with enough pace to make the howling guitar riffs entirely vicious, and occasionally accelerating further into explosions of devastating death metal. 'Emperor of the Underworld' and 'The Doomsday Scythe' are particular examples of where Runemagick turn entirely to riff-based metal, ditching all semblance of atmosphere for pure desolate rage. The mood of Runemagick never had been, and never would be one of sorrow or mourning. As slow as they go, they are still all about the arcane, the intimidating and the fearsome.

It was somewhere in the pulse-racing breakdown of "Lost My Way" that it hit. Penance have created the two best albums in their career back-to-back with Spiritualnatural and 2001's Alpha & Omega. Two doom-laden, groove-rich, choice-riff, lyrically prolific and musically diverse explorations into the damnable human condition.

Alpha And Omega is the aural equivalent of weathering a storm in a turbulent sea with only a vessel built from Sabbath,Bloody,Sabbath, Psalm 9, Stand Up And Fight, and Ad Astra to shield you from the elements.

This album isn't Lee Smith on vocals. This album was Brian "Butch" Balick on vocals. He's a good vocalist but his voice doesn't suit this album and he kind of over does it. "Cloudless" is a cool track from this album.

Perfect alchemy between powerful and inventive riffing, plundering drumming and scratched vocals. This is by far the best Penance album.
