Sweelinck's music tends to be meditative and subdued in mood, so that it can be mesmerizing, but a closer listening reveals the improvisitory sound that belies his use of fugue, and the precise and separate voices. I would prefer to begin learning this music from Bach's notation and interpret from that. A beginning or intermediate student would very probably enjoy the guidance, as the suggestions are not terrible, just not authentic.
