For lovers of flute music I've listed the contents of Vol 42, The Answer To Everything (flute, that is). So you can see what you're getting in your download.
Note that the cue sheets (i.e., split APE files) have some misspellings and on the 3rd CD some tracks listed as BWV 1033 are actually 1038. I've corrected this in the track listing below. Vol. 42 contains 4 CDs (BA Vols 124, 118, 121 CD1, 121 CD2). [BA = Bachakademie]

Note that Bach's famous Suite in B Minor BWV 1067 (which features the flute) is not found in Vol 42 - you will have to download Vol 38 (another 1Gb!), which I assume contains (BA Vol 126 - Brandenburg Concertos) and (BA Vol 132 - Orchestral Suites)

OK. If so, then by this weekend I will prepare all the archives starting with Vol 1, and from Monday I will start to repost them in tempo giusto, poco vivace.

Nevertheless, I already see that some of my archives are defective, too. Could someone please, for example, post CD 4 of Vol 14? In my archive I have two defects in it that obviously come from archive errors and not from that of the original.

By this weekend I will check the rest of my archive, and possibly I will ask you for more contributions as well.

the incident with v13.part14.rar, brings another potentially problem:
now I realized that others original WellIThink posts- don't have recovery records.
of course, 1st thing is to test arch to the generation time-
(one way is to check the test box everytime you archive important things),
2nd is to include a recovery rec in any arch you create - for the transportation.

However, I have had issues regarding Vol. 13. I re-downloaded after your second upload, but the problems
persist. When I try to un-RAR the downloaded files, I get CRC error for the following parts:
1, 4, 11, 12, 14.

THe problem affectcs CDs 1 and 4. Mostly, I have downloaded from rapidshare and zshare.

I'd like to hear from those who have had a problem-free download of Vol. 13 and which mirrors they used.

vidra, md5 signatures of uploads will help isolate where mistakes occur.

I have problems while decompressing: winrar keeps giving me messages that CRC check faled for CD 1 and "unexpected end of archive" for parts 1 and 2 (I have tried to download them from different mirror but it didn't help). Has anybody decompressed volume 3 without problems?

Also, I had no problems with vol. 13, but I can't give you any checksums because I have already deleted original .rar files.

(sorry about repeating myself, this AJAX + 504 errors is nightmare)

P.S. CRC Checksums above can be copied into .svf file and checked. I can also give MD5 checksums if it's of any help...

Thanks, eos. I downloaded the suspect files in Vol. 13 again from rapidshare and they worked.

Now, I have problems with Vol. 3. Parts 01 and 02 show errors, in spite of repeated downloads.
The filesize for Part 02 has to be wrong. (All but the last files have to be of the same size
in a multi-part RAR archive. Here, the common size is 98,078 KB, but Part02 has 98,120KB).

I'd appreciate hearing from others who have downloaded Vol. 3.

One thing to ponder over: It's nice that you're providing many mirrors, but I wonder whether it's too much work. Will it reduce your workload hugely if you upload only to Rapidshare? That way, your work is reduced and we'll get volumes faster. :)

I think @vidra is using a FileSpreadingEngine like ShareOnAll or MirrorIt. Uploaded once, you receive up to x mirrors.

No, the mirrors do not slow down the upload. In fact, I do not directly upload the files to the servers, but to shareonall.com which then does the job of distributing it to five servers. I can just recommend this to everyone for reducing the risk of the files being deleted. (True, it also has its drawback, as shareonall sometimes does not upload the files correctly, like it happened with the two first .rar's of Vol. 3 - but this is just a minor disadvantage in respect to the advantage that we can keep this material alive for a possibly long time).

(I keep trying to post this comment since this morning, and just now I see that in the meantime octron has also explained the thing. Yes, you're right.)

Until now I could only upload from home, with the pace of one volume in one or two days, but now I found a source from where I can upload relatively faster, even more volumes in a day. Nevertheless, if anyone wants to contribute, he's welcome, but I suggest him to do it on many mirrors too (with the help of shareonall).

what I missed reparing only part01 it is that cd1 continues in

Dear vidra,

Vol. 7, Part 2 showed CRC error for the main CDImage.ape file. I
downloaded twice from rapidshare and once from filefactory. Same result.

The other 24 parts, downloaded from rapidshare, worked fine.

and do a little search. So I found the right cuesheet for vol21 cd3 under:

Scroll down to "Download" and download the cuesheet.
Then open the cuesheet in your text editor and change the line after FILE into "CDImage.ape" WAVE

@kitaapati: I have downloaded vol. 7 and everything worked fine, my part 2 of volume 7 has CRC checksum 242D0861. I don't know from which source I have downloaded it, however...

Also, volumes 20, 22 and 23 by Viden worked fine (I hadn't downloaded vol. 21 because I already had it).

I'm going to post vol. 35 shortly and I will continue uploading subsequent volumes, but my upload speed is very slow.

@tauceti: CRC of any file can be computed by various tools, for example Total Commander is able to do that.

I have downloaded the reuploaded version of part 2 of vol. 7 (from rapidshare) and it's identical to the one I already have. I don't know which mirror I used originally. Maybe files sometimes get corrupted on the way between shareonall.com and filehosting servers? I hope it's not the case or that it's rare, because I use shareonall.com too.

Same problem persists. Looks like Part02 is jinxed!
How about making a fresh archive of just CD1 of Volume 7--the CDImage.ape and the cue files?
The other three CDs came through.

For those who don't know (but want to), CRC is
Cyclic Redundacy Code- a fundamental way to verify the correctness
of what is transmitted between the host and receiver-
both applies to data, compares crc and if it differs then retry.

I don't believe in wrong transmission between servers- yet.
On the other hand I've seen hundreds of cds, archives, without troubles.
The initial WellIThink was on rapidshare and I don't know any complains.

I have successfully extracted all volumes prior to chiang's most recent post. Winrar does to a CRC, so if it reports no errors the archive should be intact (and additional checks should be redundant). I have used all mirrors except rapidshare. The only problem I have encountered is that several files on filefactory (for which negative sizes were reported) would not download.

Dear vidra, chiang, and downloaders with problems

I have successfully extracted all volumes posted thus far (without CRC errors reported by Winrar), including vol. 7 as originally posted and vol. 36. This demonstrates that all archives have been uploaded intact, at least to those mirrors I used, so problems with CRC errors or truncated files are either at the downloader's end or only on some few mirrors. The only bad files I found were hosted on filefactory, but they were all reported as having negative size, so I was not surprised to find them empty.

I assume so; I haven't listened to or transcoded the extracted files. My working assumption is that Winrar's checksum is sufficient to ensure each archive's integrity; I have ignored the checksums provided by some poster(s). noizone informs me that the original posting of vol. 18 remains, I am downloading it now.

Many, many thanks in advance.

@ vidra: I'm having the same problem as lysander12345. Winrar will repair any of the files without displaying error messages but gives CRC/corruption errors when I try to extract the whole volume.

Thanks a million to vidra for resurrecting this treasure that I was afraid was lost forever. Thanks to viden and chang for volunteering to share the load. I am amazed at the sense of cyber-comradeship shown by all of you. I find it amazing that such a thing is possible. After all, we don't know each other and will perhaps never meet each other, but that doesn't deter some people from toiling away with no gains to themselves. My faith in the better side of human beings has gone up enormously. Thanks all of you.

PS: One minor request. I notice only one very minor flaw in all that I have downloaded: vol 21, CD3 lacks the cue file. I can perhaps reconstruct it, based on the log. But it would be convenient if one of you can upload it somewhere and give us the link. Heck, cue files are so short that it can just be put up here; after all, it's just a small text file.

There were few minor errors, but nothing what cannot be solved. Thank you all, once more.

I need help

Is some try do convert to cd audio

I try with nero and Exact Audio Copy any time report some mistake like "File does not exist in line 7" or line 3,etc.

How are you convert.

If convert first in wave end then make cd audio, lose tags.

.ape and .cue do not match in vol 1 to vol 27, and vol 36 to vol 40.

Well, one way to burn the CDs is to first convert the .ape file into .wav and then burn from the cuesheet. That's why there are links to .wav files in cuesheets. If you burn the .ape file directly, simply edit the cuesheet with notepad and change "CDImage.wav" (or whatever) to "CDImage.ape".

@viden, once edited the .cue file in notepad (changing ".wav" for ".ape"), you can burn the CD with "burrrn", you can get it in

Dear galhardo5, look a bit more carefully, and you will see that although the original links at the top of the page were in fact removed, they have been later all reuploaded by a team of volunteers. Check the comments, please.

Only a little question: someone has recently experienced problems in downlading of parts 1, 4, 7, 8 and 12 of volume 40??
I have tried twice to download all the files of this volume,they are apparently all OK (all have the same dimension...), but when I try to unrar it, I check the errors. Only CD 4 appears to be intact.

Busty [edit],as I got the same information you got from WinRar after attempting decompression, try this: in WinRar, click and highlight BachRillingVol40.part01.rar and then click the Repair [repair damaged archive] button on the toolbar. A dialogue box will ask you where to put the repaired file. Use the same directory as the others. Repeat through files 4/7/8 & 12 in turn. Delete the original damaged files and rename the repaired files accordingly. Voilá! (hopefully!). It worked for me. That's all I can say... Good luck!

Part 2 to 24 are still only 48.8 MB. and it dosn't work expanding (on a Mac)
on the Mac are no "fix"-functions.

Second, a WARNING about vol. 39, part 2.html, I don't know who upload again but NOD32 detects a VIRUS!! And there's no reason to, 'cause it's not supposed to be nothing but music, no keygens, no cracks, only music, so be careful and procced as your own risk! The same infected file is in other places around the web for the same file, so take care!.

thanks for your effort. I have downloaded all files and it appears everything is OK, with two (three) exceptions:
1) Vol. 7 CD 4 is missing. Repair with latest Stuffit (OSX 10.5.6) does not work, unfortunately;
2) Vol. 40 all CDs are missing. Repair with latest Stuffit (OSX 10.5.6) does not work, unfortunately.
Any help available? Could anyone repost links with amended files?

PPS: Vol. 33 CDs 3 & 4 are now OK using the new links provided above.

For me, Vol 7 CD 1 is missing. WinRar says that part 1 is corrupted, and I've tried repairing it etc to no avail. It doesn't matter which host I download the files from, it all says the same thing. When you open CD 1 of vol 7, the APE file is always missing - it only has the CUE file. Is anybody able to upload just the APE file for this?

PS Of the remaining mirrors which haven't been removed, I've tried a few downloads on each and get the same result every single time, so I doubt that it's just occurring at my end. Maybe the good files were in the mirrors that have been subsequently removed? Only Rapidshare and Megaupload still have the files, and these are the ones with the problems.

Anyway, this is an absolutely fantastic share, and thanks so much - I can just hope that someone might have a resolution to that problem.

Yes, Marcos I found that also, after an useless 3.5 GB download: lechucero vols 1 to 12 are not part of this box, they belong to the TELDEC (154CDs) collection.

I managed to download this through torrnents. Just type in google: "Bach Complete Works torrent" and pick torrents that have enough seeds. Usually there's description of each torrent. I downloaded 192kbps mp3 rip, and ape + cue rips are about 50% done. Keep in mind, this takes a while, but it's worth it. As a matter of fact, I will probably stop downloading ape + cue rip, since mp3 one sounds excellent.

The files on rapidshare are deleted and other sources for download like megaupload are not complete. It would be nice if you would re-upload the files once more. Thank you

I've just downloaded vol.1. It's good but i suggest that instead of a CD image a mp3 format is much better
you know 'cause it's easier to listen to it on iPods and mp3 players instead of CD players.

I hope you continue uploading with mp3 format if possible

Raco, you can converting APE to mp3. You should use CUE Splitter, after some progs which convert music format.

APE is more hight quality than mp3.

Has anyone tried expanding the rar files for volume 38? When I did so I got a query from the un-rar program asking for the next file, and when I finished, it looks to me as if cd4's data is essentially missing - all that's there is the .log file. In my download, file sizes were: parts 1 - 5: 200,431,872; part6: 680,487. Any suggestions? Thanks very much!

I have added a 3% recovery record to all the archives I have uploaded here. These have also been tested before uploading.so I suggest that you use the repair damaged archive option of winrar and then extract using the repaired archive. should work fine.

my slave maxtor hard disk corrupts all my downloaded rar archives and now all cannot extract. I save in archives in my hard disk but now it dunno why all crc failed but still contain the same space. anyone plz help!

I used to have a similar but not exactly the same problem with one of my external hard disks (1tb seagate freeagent). The solution that used to work for me was to just disconnect my hard drive and let it cool off. The root cause in my case was an MFT error. I hope u dont have to re-format the hard disk though as that was what I finally did. Since then I have disabled write caching also. U cud run chkdsk or some other utility that u use and see if it works.

i know it was fine after download but my hard disk crash. after the crash, all rar archives in my hard disk crc failed, and so to my jpgs.

I hope you have tried the "keep broken files" option while extracting. I normally find that it seems to do the trick for crc errors(archived movie files) . just try it for one volume and see if the extracted files play fine. If not, then I guess you should try these softwares. Finally if nothing works, the only option would be to redownload :(
