Publisher: Routledge | ISBN: 0789000822 | edition 2004 | PDF | 194 pages | 8,8 mb

Wine, Food, and Tourism Marketing is an overview of contemporary practices and trends in food and wine tourism marketing. International in scope, the book draws on studies from Canada, England, France, New Zealand, South Africa, and Scotland for analyses of contemporary practices and trends that help you develop, implement, and maintain strategic competitive advantages. The book looks at case studies of business operations, seasonality, destination image, and the development of business networks.
Equally valuable as a professional resource for practitioners and as a textbook for upper-level and graduate students in tourism, hospitality, and wine and food studies, Wine, Food, and Tourism Marketing examines the importance of food and wine tourism to rural regional development. The book presents destination management planning and marketing initiatives for specific markets that can be easily adapted and applied to a wider range of wine tourism settings. Tourism marketing researchers and academics address vital issues such as the importance of collective marketing strategies, viticulture, design factors for online tourism information, and the use of food images in promotional material and positioning strategies. The book includes:

Emerging Foodborne Pathogens
Publisher: CRC Press | ISBN: 1855739631 | edition 2006 | PDF | 656 pages | 12 mb

A good starting point for any discussion on emerging foodborne pathogens is to describe what this term is taken to mean. For our purposes we have adopted a definition which draws on several earlier published versions (Morse, 1995; 2004) and classifies emerging pathogens as: those causing illnesses that have only recently appeared or been recognised in a population, or that are well recognised but are rapidly increasing in incidence
or geographic range.

Optimising Sweet Taste in Foods
Publisher: Woodhead Publishing | ISBN: 1845690087 | edition 2006 | PDF | 448 pages | 11 mb

The `sweetness' industry is a multimillion pound growth industry worldwide especially in the developed world. In 2004 over 2,000 reduced sugar and sugar free foods were introduced. In academe and in industrial laboratories there are numerous groups active in taste studies of many types and this is reflected in the volume of diverse scientific publications, patents etc. that have appeared. There have been quite a number of books and conferences on sweetness and taste and some of these meetings take place at regular intervals. It is a few years since a book has appeared that addresses the topic of sweetness and in this present volume, which we hope will be a timely contribution to the field, we have brought together an array of experts in the sweetness area. Each is an authority in his/her own area and in inviting scientists to contribute we have tried to cover areas that have not been touched on in recent times. We hope that this will make this volume of particular interest to a variety of researchers in the taste domain and to a wider circle of scientists who may wish to have an update in various sweetness fields.

Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise
Publisher: Allen & Unwin Pty | ISBN: 1741146445 | edition 2005 | PDF | 335 pages | 10,5 mb

What they might not fully appreciate is that Reichl is an absolute marvel when it comes to writing about food--she can describe a dish in such satisfying detail that it becomes
unnecessary for readers to eat. In her third memoir, Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise, Reichl focuses on her life as a food critic, dishing up a feast of fabulous meals enjoyed during her tenure at The New York Times. As a critic, Reichl was determined to review the "true" nature of each restaurant she visited, so she often dined incognito--each chapter of her book highlights a new disguise, a different restaurant (including the original reviews from the Times), and a fresh culinary adventure. Garlic and Sapphires is another delicious and delightful book, sure to satisfy Reichl's foodie fans and leave admirerers looking forward to her next book, hopefully about her life with Gourmet.

A Handbook of Food Processing in Classical Rome: For Her Bounty No Winter
Publisher: Brill Academic Publishers | ISBN: 9004152369 | edition 2006 | PDF | 305 pages | 10,1 mb

Rome was able to support a huge urban population by providing it with the rudiments of human nutrition in the form of processed foods. This volume contains a careful analysis of those food processes. The work is organized on the basis of the presumed importance of those foods, beginning with the so-called Mediterranean Triad of cereals (particularly wheaten bread), olive oil and wine, then dealing with plant products such as legumes, vegetables and fruits, then animal products, and ending with the condiments (salts, sugars, acids, spices) which were themselves the agents for the preservation of other foods. The work combines analysis of literary and archaeological evidence from antiquity with that of traditional comparative practices and modern food science.

Professor Trim's Ultimate Food Energy Guide
Publisher: Allen & Unwin | ISBN: 1741140196 | edition 2003 | PDF | 224 pages | 10,7 mb

This is the third book in Garry Egger's series of books based on his "Professor Trim's Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program", a medically-based programme endorsed by GPs. The book provides a listing of hundreds of food products broken down by "energy density", a hot topic in weight control research. Regulating the energy density of food that is consumed has begun to supersede previous medical arguments about fat or carbohydrate content as the pivotal factor in weight loss. This is a quick reference listing which can be used in conjunction with the "Becoming Gutless" or "Becoming Slim" weight loss books for men and women respectively.
