Jupiter Sunset - Back In The Sun (1971,72)

EAC | FLAC tracks +CUE +LOG +600 dpi Full Scans = Mb | RAR 3% | RS
Genre: Psychedelic Folk+Pop | Label: MAM Productions | Catalog Number: 3930819

I would say that its a kind of very melodic PSYCHEDELIC POP. These french musicians (unknown to me, but maybe YOU know them, especially as the future Jupiter Sunset Band or Jupiter Sunset Disco Band). It is as catchy and melodic (from the very start of any song!) as it is with UK Zombies....These guys listened to very good UK psych & proto-prog albums of their time, and it had a specific result: most of their songs start with very recognizable tunes (for example, the first chords of the title track remind me of 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale' from PH) but every time it has an original continuation...This is one of the best albums i've heard for several last months! Inspite of its simplicity, it's highly recommended to any music fan....

Tapestry Of Delights:
This is an impressive crew of studio/session musicians, embarking on what could have been the umpteenth boring exploitation album. Luckily, it turns out to be surprisingly good. Side one of this all-instrumental LP is made up of covers of songs like "Scarboro' Fair", "My Babe" and Stephen Stills' "Hung Upside Down", while side two comprises Parker originals. Strangely enough, side one is actually better, pairing imaginative arranging with expert playing. Not as good or disturbing as the similarly-inclined Blue Phantom on the same label, this is nonetheless listenable, though nothing very special. Alan Parker was also involved in Blue Mink and Hungry Wolf and made a solo album in 1970 too.

joecreighton.com:
....The story of Melissa's debut album, Midnight Trampoline, is your typical saga of bad deals and lost opportunities. Recorded over a period of nine months, the album eventually appeared on the Banner label to little response at the end of 1971. 'Midnight Trampoline' stands as an intriguing artefact that combines esoteric, folksy-rock redolent of Jethro Tull ('Matalla', 'Getting Through'), Moody Blues-styled pastoral pop ('Out in the Country', 'Jennifer In New York'), progressive blues-rock ('Cuckoo'), and two Van Morrison covers ('Young Lovers Do', 'Madame George').....

The Crack In The Cosmic Egg:
...They had moved on to a classical spiced rock music of great invention, blending heavy and spacy styles with great finesse. Strong songs form the basis of most tracks, all of which are sufficiently long enough to give plenty of room for solos from flute, violin, guitar and keybords. Stylistically The Blackbirds here come pretty close to Italian bands of the era like New Trolls, Panna Fredda, and also had much in common with British bands like Skin Alley or Jody Grind. It's a shame that they never made a third album...
