Slovenia, located in Central Europe and on the Alps has brought their answer to the Dutch titans Epica, welcome the challengers known as Aperion, a Symphonic Gothic Metal octet, compromising of one of each positions: vocals, guitar, cello, bass, flute, viola, drums and the didgeridoo. Madball is a New York-based Hardcore band that originated in the late 1980s, as a side-project of Agnostic Front (where Agnostic Front's front man Roger Miret would let his younger brother, Freddy "Madball" Cricien take the microphone on lead vocals during Agnostic Front shows).

Coma is a Polish alternative rock band, founded in 1998 in Łódź by Dominik Witczak (guitar) and Tomasz Stasiak (drums). The name - Coma - was chosen accidentally. They tossed a coin to decide because they had an appointment for an interview in Radio Łódź. After winning the Rock Festival in Węgorzewo the band became very popular in Poland.

Proletaryat is a polish band founded in november 1987. The are famous in Poland thanks to their first two post-punk albums “Proletariat” & “Proletaryat” and for their performance at Jarocin Festival in 1989, where they managed to get 3 awards.

Mortiis is a band from Notodden, Norway fronted by Håvard Ellefsen, who is also known as the namesake of the band. The name is a misspelling of the word 'mortis', which is the pronunciation used by the band. However, Mortiis started as the solo project of Ellefsen as a means to convey a story. This aspect was lost over time and Mortiis slowly formed into a band.

Melechesh is a black metal band that originated in Jerusalem. Ashmedi started the band as a solo project in 1993. In the following year, guitarist Moloch and drummer Lord Curse were added to the line-up. The band’s goal was to create a type of black metal incorporating extensive Middle Eastern influences mainly based on Mesopotamian/Sumerian and occult themes (both musically and lyrically); the band invented the title "Mesopotamian metal" to best describe their type of metal. The name Melechesh consists of two words of Aramaic and Hebraic origins, (melech, king) and (esh, fire), a combination which has been originated by the band.

Liv Kristine is the former vocalist for the band Theatre of Tragedy and current vocalist for the band Leaves' Eyes.

This quintet is armed with a unique take on blending technology and metal together to write music that sets their band apart from the numerous metal bands today. WITHIN THE RUINS have mastered their technique of bringing breakdowns, riffs, tempo and a dash of personality together in order to form one cohesive entity.
