A reporter arrives at a desert hotel, in a North African country, to report on the guerrilla freedom-fighters there. He meets a man who dies suddenly, and who resembles the reporter so much, that he decides to change identities with the dead man - to escape his personal problems, and more. The life is of a man is made of his ingrained habits, and that will haunt him, as he tries to start a new relationship with a young, strange woman he subsequently meets...(http://imdb.com/title/tt0073580/plotsummary)

Antonioni creates a mood that is almost indefinable throughout, a kind of hollow detachment which is exactly the perspective that Locke has on the world which has gradually worn him down yet the director still manages to conjure up power and simple romance between Locke and the girl he meets who is played by Maria Schneider (http://imdb.com/title/tt0073580/usercomments)

"Professione: reporter", belongs to the most interesting period of Antonioni's career (between the second half of the Sixties and the first of the Seventies). Because in these years the Italian director made his most accessible works: "Blow Up" (1966), "Zabryskie point" (1969) and "Professione: reporter" ("The Passenger", 1974). These films contain more action and more situations. They are neither more commercial nor more mainstream, but they talk about an adventure or a dream.(http://imdb.com/title/tt0073580/usercomments)

A climactic landscape shot brings all the violent, sensual, philosophical and narrative plot and thematic points together in a marvelous way that has been much imitated but is still powerful, as the camera looks out a window at a cool distance in the heat, key events culminate back and forth frantically in front of the camera, in and out of frame, and the camera moves through the bars and is free to roam in ever more close-ups.(http://imdb.com/title/tt0073580/usercomments)

The Passenger is a haunting work about a man's inability to escape from his destiny. This is a hypnotic film which engulfs the viewer in Locke's (Jack Nicholson) plight. Well worth watching by anyone interested in serious cinema. (http://imdb.com/title/tt0073580/usercomments)

This is the all time Road Movie. The all time 'escape' movie... This is 1970ies Pirandello brought to you via the screen persona of an incredible Jack Nicholson. This film is for 'contemplators'. For addicts to SLOW adrenalin. ... THIS is Antonioni's REAL masterpiece. Antonioni's analytical eye for visual detail... for the SPACE AROUND THINGS . The best secrets remain unsolved, and often unseen. Professione: Reporter / The Passenger. A western Tarkovsky... only better! (http://imdb.com/title/tt0073580/usercomments)

FNB.47

I am grateful to you, and your efforts inspired me to post some films myself. I've got a huge collection and I'll try to post some rare films. The next one will be Pasolini's Theorem (1968). Please tell me if you're searching for dome films as I might have them.

BTW, I've got a problem with Boris Barnet-Okraina ('Outskirts') (1933).avi - weather I opet it in MV2 Player or VLC Player, the subtitles don't show. Could you help me please, is there another player to show them? Thanks in advance.

just to add:

Professione: reporter is published on DVD in UK under the title "THE PASSENGER"

Hello kharmok, for B.Barnet's Okraina, pls try to explicitly open the movie file and subtitle file (the one with *.idx extension) using VLC player... I mean :
VLC Player menu - File - Open File - Browse for "avi" - check "Use a subtitle file" - and browse for *.idx
and when movie starts pls be sure that :
VLC Player menu - Video - Subtitle Track is checked.

I always control and see the working sync. subtitles before I post the movies.

(Maybe you need "VobSub" program or some dll's to be installed... I dont know...)

Thanks for your kind offer, fortunately I almost have all of the movies I want to have. :))
But if you have Naomi Kawase's "Hotaru" it would be really great.
Not movies but I need some subtitles, ie:
Goretta / Dantelliere
Resnais / Muriel
E. Scola / Brutti sporchi e cattivi + La Terrazza
...
there are some others too, I may write a PM to you when I list them down...

Thanks.

Hi FNB.47,

thanks for your help with VLC Player and subtitles. I can get it to work only in 2 cases: If I do what you told me, or if I select both avi and idx files and play them in VLC (but in that case it automatically disables the subs, so I have to manually check it on ). Anyhow subs are still lost for some reason if I fastforward the film, but that's not a problem, I'm glad it works. Before I was using MV2 Player which has subs as text files that can be easily edited, corrected or changed for fun :-)

Unfortunately, I don't have any of the films or subs you're looking for, but I'll keep them in mind. Would you still post Scola's "Brutti sporchi e cattivi" (one of the films I was searching for a long time ) some time in the future, there might be someone who's got the english subs? I'll PM you a list of some of my collection...
