Dans une cité de la banlieue parisienne. Abdelkrim, dit «Krimo», est élevé seul par sa mère depuis que son père a été envoyé en prison. Alors qu'il vient de se faire plaquer par sa petite amie, Magalie, il croise une camarade de classe, Lydia, qui a revêtu le costume qu'elle portera sur scène pour la pièce de théâtre du spectacle de fin d'année, «Les jeux de l'amour et du hasard», de Marivaux. Il accompagne celle-ci à sa répétition, au cours de laquelle Lydia a des frictions avec l'une de ses partenaires, la bouillante Frida. Krimo sortirait bien avec Lydia. Mais sa timidité l'empêche de lui déclarer sa flamme. Afin de se rapprocher d'elle, il s'arrange pour obtenir un rôle dans la pièce...

On a rundown housing estate on the outskirts of Paris, Krimo, a teenage boy of North African descent, lives with his mother in a cramped apartment. Shortly after he is dumped by his girlfriend, Krimo notices another girl, Lydia. Although he is instantly attracted to her, Krimo is too shy to show his feelings for her. It so happens that Lydia is playing a part in a school production of a Marivaux play. In order to get to know her, he bribes another boy to let him take his place in the play...
