Argentine filmmaker Pablo Trapero directs this gritty, understated film about a man trying to start his life anew. Rulo (Luis Margani) was a moderately successful musician in the 1970s, but now he works as a crane operator and lives with his son, who is also musically inclined. As he is dating a woman who runs a sandwich shop, he discovers that making a fresh start proves to be harder than he first thought.





Winner of multiple international film festival awards, director Pablo Trapero's first feature uses non-actors in a tale that is by turns humorous and heartbreaking. This slice-of-life drama, told in a series of episodes, invites comparisons to the Neo-Realism of 1950s Italian cinema. At the center is Rulo, a one-time rock star and now our overweight middle aged, chain smoking hero, trying to support his aging mother and musician son. As his efforts go increasingly awry, it is the love of family and friends that keeps him hopeful. Beautifully photographed in black and white and directed with a combination of aesthetic freshness and emotional subtlety, Crane World is a key work in the current resurgence of Argentine cinema.





Rulo, un operador de grúas de cincuenta años, carga con dignidad el peso de una vida con demasiados sinsabores y algunos fugaces momentos de gloria. Rulo, 50 ans, bassiste d'un célèbre groupe de rock des 70's, cherche un travail de grutier pour lequel il doit passer un examen médical. Alors qu'il entame une relation amoureuse avec Adriana, il est recalé. Devant cependant subvenir aux besoins de sa mère et de son fils de 19ans, qui veut monter un groupe de rock, Rulo accepte un poste dans le sud, à 2000 km de là, où se construit un nouvel aqueduc. Après une longue période d'adaptation le chantier est arrêté ; de retour à Buenos Aires, il repart de zéro.
