Wenders, Lisbon and Madredeus...

"This film is food for the soul" /Imdb user/

"The director Friedrich Monroe has trouble with finishing a silent b&w movie about Lisbon. He calls his friend, the sound engineer Phillip Winter, for help. As Winter arrives Lisbon weeks later, Monroe is disappeared but has left the unfinished film. Winter decides to stay, because he is fascinated of the city and the Portuguese singer Teresa, and he starts to record the sound of the film."/Imdb/

Could someone speaking Portuguese translate this graffitti for us? Thanks.

Who wouldn't get in love with Portugal, after seeing it..The people and country of Saudade. I won't explain you what it means, only real Portuguese know that. And even if I would like to explain,it is pointless..That can't be described, but maybe you can recognize it in Teresa's voice and landscape of Tejo who is the only witness of their lives. This story don't need actors to tell it because it is not only story between Fillip and Friedrich, but about the secrets that are hiding in wrinkles of people faces, in old aqueduct and walls of houses in Lisbon./Imdb user/

The phrase “Ah não ser eu toda a gente e toda a parte!” is part of the poem "Ode Triunfal" written by Álvaro de Campos, one of the heteronymous of Fernando Pessoa.
If I try to translate it does not make much sense. Something like "I would like to be everyone, everyplace".
However the true meaning in the context of the poem is a confession of failure.
Thank you for your post!

WOW! In the past 3 days I've watched this film 3 times and listened to the soundtrack at least 100. I can't remember the last time I've been this affected by a film, which is odd because I've never been a big fan of Wim Wenders (until now). Thanks very much for this post. Also thanks to FNB47 who has posted many Wenders films which I am now downloading :D

spaetzle,

I'm happy for you... Imdb user's comment ("This film is food for the soul") seems correct ;)

I love this film but my top Wenders (and one of my top 10 of all time) is "Wings of Desire"(Der Himmel über Berlin (1987) - posted by FNB.47 here on Avax.

It's a great pleasure for me to thank your for this post.
I do appreciate all the Wenders movies, and this one, built around Lisbon, I had forgotten it a little.

iris.star,

password is clearly marked above. beware it's case-sensitive.

BTW, good news is that I'll upload a DVD-rip sometime...please leave a note here, and I'll inform you when it's done

kharmok, thanks for this movie.

Please excuse for asking, but the given password (www.AvaxHome.ru) seems to fail. Copy&paste, typed, varying case, slight variations, different expansion tools (I'm on Mac) nothing gives.

Edit: I downloaded the whole lot again. The the extract then worked.
So I can confirm the password works /:)

Do you think you might still post the DVD?
