"The wall paintings shown in Agnes Varda's ''Mur Murs'' are lively and energetic, and they can't help but give the film some measure of vitality even when Miss Varda's own methods do not. Miss Varda has photographed dozens of Los Angeles murals of varying style and quality, from simply decorative works to representative ones, and interviewed many of the artists responsible for them. The artists are not shy about their accomplishments. ''Even if they've only seen it for three seconds, they've been exposed to art and beauty,'' one woman says of her mural with a forest motif."
