It's great that you're making these titles available again, seeing as Rato long ago pulled them off. Thank you for doing that and don't worry about this "Zedy" jerk and his nasty comments. I do agree though that you didn't need to cover up Rato's name. Give credit where credit is deserved.

You are an idiot fare9295 - sorry to say.

If you even bother to read rato's blog it states - and quite easy for anyone to understand

Quote
"The available links will last just one week; after that period they will be deleted.
It'll always be the possibility for you to get any old link but only if you request it by email.
Thanks!"

I didn't find rato's blog until late last year but I have all of his fabulous compilations,
as they were originally released, with ALL covers, in the original bit rates
(not rencoded like this person has done - fucking them totally)

(Send an email!)

Like I said before...Zedy is a pathetic individual. Even though I downloaded all of these titles directly from Rato's links (KISS MY ASS ZEDY!), I think it's good that you make these available for others. Let them decide if the sound quality is good enough for them. At least you're making it easy for them to get the material. That being said, Rato is a nice person who will respond to requests. This is why I don't think it's good that you cover up references to his name. It's his work, so in spite of the fact that you're making it easier for others to get it, give him credit.

Just remember...losers like Zedy that have time on their hands to bitch and whine are too pitiful for you to worry about. Keep posting, just be sure to give credit where it's deserved. It's funny that Zedy is so quick to call someone an "idiot", seeing as the only idiots here are the people who bitch and complain about the postings of others. Let pitiful little Zedy bitch away though, because he's obviously as stupid as he accuses others of being. Zedy...you pathetic little tool...you don't know me and you don't know anything about who I am or my experiences. I've been following Rato much longer than you, based on your own comments, so any suggestion that I or anyone else hasn't read what Rato's blog says is just plain ignorant on your part. Stay in Mommy and Daddy's basement and keep typing with one hand.

Seems to me that the absolute, all time king of bitching is none other than fare9295 himself.
Posted By: Spanky2 Date: 27 Apr 2008 03:14:36
Zedy and fare9295, please stop bitching at each other.
The songs have defenatly been messed up.
They have been recoded to 320 just to make it look better.
The filenames have no tracknubmer and artist in it, just the songname.
This ist not common practis for a various artist album.
I shure can restore it with a program called MP3Tag,
but why not doing it properly in the first place.
There are no covers and no tracklist included in the archives.
All i can say this is defenatly not AvaxHome Standart.
So please, who ever did it, don not try to fool us again.

Original encodings were 192kbps. Re-encoding them at 320 means further quality loss or, in the "best" of the cases, they almost double the required disk space with no quality advantage at all.

Cheers from Ireland for this great upload.

@Spanky2:

I agree with all you said. Upsampling someone else's work to puff up one's upload volume and then renaming the files without track numbers and not even crediting the originator of the series is pathetic.

As a graphic example of what a waste this is, here are some spectra:

This is a FLAC that I compressed into mp3 with LAME:

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/17/flacmp3.jpg

You can see the original FLAC has spectral activity right up to 22.1kHz.
The @320kHz mp3 has activity to 19.5kHz but is fairly sparse beyond around 17kHz.
The @192kHz mp3 cuts off at 16.9kHz.
The @192-upsampled-to-320kHz mp3 cuts off at 16.7kHz so is no better than the @192kHz one. It's actually worse since it has been re-encoded.

These are the spectra of one file chosen at random from the files of the series posted here:

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/2003/192320.jpg

The top one is from the original 192kHz Rato file and cuts off at 16.2kHz.
The middle one is this original 192kHz file upsampled to 320kHz by me with LAME and cuts off at 16.4kHz so no gain in quality, only loss.
The bottom one is from the files posted here and cuts off at 16.3kHz so is almost certainly also an upsampled version of the original 192kHz Rato file.

This is taken from mp3Tag showing stats on all the above files:

http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/9025/mp3tag.jpg

Notice that the FLAC goes from 31.71MB to 3.06MB @192--that's about 10:1 compression. Both @320s are 5.08MB or around 6:1 compression. The upsampled @192 increases in size by 2MB, an increase of around 2/3, without any quality improvement, in fact a quality degradation because it was re-encoded.

The upsampled @192kHz original file goes from 4.57MB to 7.63MB @320kHz--an increase in size of 3MB, around a 2/3 increase, without any increase in quality, in fact a decrease since it was re-encoded. Please note that I say "upsampled" for lack of a better term. Actually it is re-encoded to a higher bitrate--something you never have any reason to do.

This should be a wake-up call to all would-be upsamplers. This is a tough crowd we have here and you WILL be found out and exposed. };^)>
