John Lennon Mini LP Box Set (2007) [11 CD Japan, TOCP 70390-70400]
EAC Rip (Flac+Cue+Log) | ~ 3.37 GB | Full Artwork

About Mini-LP CDs:
Japan mini-LP CDs are official audiophile releases manufactured in Japan under license. CDs made in Japan are superior in nearly every way to those from other countries.. The superb mastering (often 20 Bit, 24 Bit, K2, DSD, K2HD, or HDCD) and resultant sound quality is excellent. The Japanese packaging of classic albums in cardboard sleeve miniature is very fine. These mini-LPs endeavor to be precise miniaturizations of the first pressings of the 12" LPs. Usually everything that was present in the original LP is included, such as gatefolds, booklets, lyric sheets, posters, printed CD sleeves, stickers, embosses, special paper or inks, and die cuts. In nearly all mini-LP releases a detail sheet is included, and although the text may be in Japanese, the insert will often include the lyrics in English, which is a big plus if the original LP did not include a lyric sheet. Japan promotional strips, also called “obi,” or stickers are usually included with the package as a way of advertising the CD to the Japanese buying public and includes considerable information, such as release date, catalog number, and mastering. Limited edition extra promotional obis are sometimes added by the distributor. On occasion a mini-LP CD will have bonus tracks included that were not part of the original release. However, the notes about the bonus tracks are never added to the album artwork, only to the promotional strip or the detail sheet, thus maintaining the integrity of the original LP artwork.

We are making every possible effort to buy and sell only Sealed CDs in mint condition,thus having no scratches on the disc or rubbing on the outer sleeve cover.They only come in clear plastic sleeves and not shrinking packs.Even in the cases that the CD has just been opened and not used they are classified in the category of used CDs, which is always clearly indicated in the description of the item.
All CDs are original.

pass change ?in former times file

Posted By: eadd Date: 28 Feb 2009 14:57:25
I think any "Audiophile" should download those things!
The quality is as good as the MFSL, and it doesn't have the "loudness war" thing to.

Really a "treat" to the ears :)

Thank you!!!

Thank you fantastic great albums!!!

thank you.

just type the pass, don't copy an paste
Posted By: CrewZ Date: 28 Feb 2009 21:21:43
@eadd

Totally agree with your comment, as MFSL usually used a Japan source for those CDs, and the only thing in my mind that is different is that it's gold... has nothing to do with the source information on the CD. The Gimmick is that the gold improved laser performance not sound...

I believe most source transfers where done properly by most Japan companies rather than north American companies. Many times Japan sources out the best pressings (1st, 2nd and/or best remaster pressing) for the transfer job to CD and not compressing the hell out of it so it sound flat (way better dynamics).
Posted By: eadd Date: 28 Feb 2009 22:10:30
@CrewZ

I have to say more, I have the Imagine MFSL ULTRA II GOLD CD (you can even download it here somewhere I think)
And I have compared it to the one here.

They are the same! I mean sure I don't have a milion dollar system audio, but still a very nice one that can be called "Audiophile".
Seem like the songs are the same length to and the album is the same.
I think that what we have here is the same as MFSL, but just for all of them ;)

(which is great !!!)

Thank you!

BTW, none of those albums has the "loudness war" effect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war)
Great sound, Great Dynamic, this is the way those albums meant to be :)

Thanks for this superb set of superb cds! On my lousy connection it took hours but I made it. All rar files unpacked perfectly. To those people that are having password issues, I would suggest that the problem is not in the password but due to having a corrupt download. I have had that happen to me several times and all that is needed is re-download the one rar file that got corrupted.
Good luck to all and thanks forfreedom!

Thanks a lot! Great post and great music!
Posted By: CrewZ Date: 01 Mar 2009 20:52:48
@eadd

The issue(gimmick) here is, does this technology be it gold surface or super plastic(SHM-CD), improve the sound quality of the music of the source... I think not. In my opinion all it does is improve the surface to allow the laser to read the information off the disc better.

and, Totally... Stop the loudness wars!!!!

fight the power people... I can turn my own volume dial up thank you!

Stop clipping my music.

Thanks God for the Japanese eh'

Great stuff ... wonder if I should throw out my MFSL stuff just to have a uniform collection ...

Just 2 things I am looking for (in lossless):

* Soundtrack for Imagine (the movie)
* Similar collection for Paul McCartney

As for Beatles, they've been aired here already. Dr Ebbet's transfers of MFSL vinyl to CD. Got them. So I'm only missing Macca in a good mastering to have a complete collection. And the Imagine Soundtrack.
Posted By: CrewZ Date: 01 Mar 2009 21:01:46
@Felix Cheshirensis

McCartney, I am working on that collection soon.

you should also source out Purple Chick, I believe to be the best source for the Beatles, Most if not all of the Mono version of Purple chick release are the Dr. Ebbet needle drops...

@CrewZ
Yep you are right, I hate clipping !!!
No wonder why I am hearing now Def Leppard original versions only or MFSL :)

Posted By: Felix Cheshirensis Date: 02 Mar 2009 09:21:53
@ CrewZ: Is "Purple Chick" a variety of Dr Ebbets again? A particularly good Ebbet-CD rip? Or do I have the ultimate Beatles when I have Ebbet's (lossless, many of them with flawless LOG file)? How do I check if it is the Purple Chick flavour?
Posted By: PercyOBoogie Date: 02 Mar 2009 13:49:16
@ Felix Cheshirensis: Purple Chick usually takes Dr. Ebbetts needle drops but also includes rehearsals, demos, different mixes, mono/stereo, from Anthology DVD series, etc. Follow CrewZ's link, there's the inside info from each disc. The series include Quarrymen, All BBC Sessions and the last "gem" are the Live! performance. The full catalog is in Demonoid, and the uploader, the Great Mr.Beatleg. (I have Demonoid's invitations if you want).

@ forfreedom: I don't know how I found this web, probably God sent me. Amazing upload, great generosity... John's stuff, remastered, FLAC, EAC, CUE, LOG... too much. You should have an excellent karma. Thanks.
Posted By: CrewZ Date: 02 Mar 2009 16:12:35
Here is what Rollingstone magazine article had...

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/20200609/page/20

P.S. don't go by those uploaded audio examples, it's better to have the original ones.

Purple Chick: I was under the impression that most of the Mono versions of the collection are from Dr. Ebett, the stereo version they sourced from the best versions they could find or produce and a lot of rare studio and session stuff.

Yes most are on Demonoid, but I found mine at a different source... No log or cue files, but what can you ask for if it's a bootleg eh'

CrewZ :)
Posted By: redar_us Date: 03 Mar 2009 02:32:35
This is puzzling me... why would anyone want a MONO version of anything? It's like settling for chicken bones instead of the meat!
Posted By: Sartre Date: 03 Mar 2009 10:21:23
Many early stereo releases are gimmicky sounding and uncomfortable to listen to on headphones, so mono is often the way to go. The quality of the mono tapes sometimes sound better as well.
Posted By: CrewZ Date: 03 Mar 2009 16:42:38
@redar_us

Mono... well for one, most folks in the early 60's only had mono-capable sound systems. That's why the early Beatles albums are in mono. It's fairly universally agreed that the first two albums are indeed better off in mono... As with all Beatles albums, both mono and stereo mixing would be done through out the recording sessions. But to say that mono mixes are superior because they were done first is foolish, both have their pro's and con's!

When the Beatles were involved in the mono mixing process, it seems to me that the mono was intended as something of a template, or blueprint, to be followed in production of a stereo mix. As though the band said, "OK, we've got the mono down, we trust you to follow that for the stereo."

thus, bringing me to my point...

Since these Mono vs. Stereo recordings are not the same session, you can definitely hear a difference in the songs, thus discovering something new to you about the Beatles!
Posted By: redar_us Date: 03 Mar 2009 17:32:09

I did check the mono releases and compared them to the stereo ones, and I did see a tremendous difference to the stereo release advantage, and to be precise, most of the mono Beatles releases sounded as flat as two week old bottle of diet coke!
Posted By: CrewZ Date: 03 Mar 2009 17:49:46
Stop comparing Apples to Oranges... both have their place.

Both are good for different reasons.

Thanks for posting this quality prod;
However...
Are you aware that RAPIDSHARE is imposing download limits to their Premium users?
Around 2 Gigs a day! ...
Considering the size of great stuf that you all (uploaders) are more and more producing and uploading this means that for a 7/8 Gigs post a Premium user at Rapidshare needs 3/4 days to fully download it. What do you think about ?
I am already Premium user from MEGAUPLOAD - DEPOSITFILES - FILEFACTORY - EASYSHARE.
With these guys I am delighted; you know why?
NO DOWNLOAD LIMITS AT ALL !!!

Cam anyone help me?
this is just a long file.
i have downloaded the first 3 album.
how can i cut the each songs accurately without messing with the quality.
i want to cut them because later i want to convert them in to mp3
so that i can listen to them in my mp3 player.
i also want to keep the original files.

Posted By: PercyOBoogie Date: 07 Mar 2009 16:32:17
@Ayon: download free this program CUE Splitter from http://www.medieval.it/content/view/28/70/ (open the .CUE file and split the original file into separate tracks).
Then I recommend Easy CD-DA Extractor 11 to convert from FLAC to MP3.

Thank you very much for re-posting these releases, forfreedom.
Very much appreciated, since I have the first CD releases I am able to compare.
In most cases (with the exception of "Shaved Fish"), I even own the (now worn out) vinyls.
A real treat! Thanks again!
