Folk, Blues | mp3 CBR 320 kbps | 55:21 min| 125 MB
Label: V2/Coop | Tracks: 13 | Rls.date: 2012-05-20

They may hail from leafy Sussex, but Jessica Jones and Katherine Blamire are more American than most Americans. Indeed, their career path as Smoke Fairies and their musical values could hardly be more representative of the 50 states.

Terry Quiett Band - Just My Luck (2011)
EAC Rip | FLAC (Image) + CUE + LOG | Covers | 357 MB
Genre: Blues/Rock | Label: Lucky Bag | Catalog Number: LB2011
RAR 5% Rec. | FilePost + Rapidshare | Release Date: 2011

Just My Luck, the latest album from the Terry Quiett Band, is an album that proves that music is just as much about feeling and expression as it is technique and ability. While Quiett is obviously a very good musician from a technical standpoint (which is proven by his unbelievable vocals on “Close to You” and gutsy guitar solos on “Satisfied” and “Getting Through to Me”), most of the album is very simple, but it is also extremely genuine and heartfelt. The first thing that stands out about this album is that the band really does sound like a band....

The album was recorded live in the Studio, along with Daniel Ruiz Estrada (piano, organ), Steve Harrish (bass), Stephen Morin (drums) and played on three songs with Joe Murphy (harmonica). With what damn casual relaxed, he and the band interpreted here well-known and lesser-known songs, already bordering the insolence.Where a Gary Moore recorded his "walking by myself" on "Still got the Blues" in a violent way, Campbelljohn Estrada leaves the introduction to the song Daniel Ruiz on piano. Also vocally he brings out more quite a bit from the song, as it is capable of Moore at all."Walking by myself" is equipped with a slide solo, but the lion's share is part of the fine strumming of Estrada....

Bonnie Raitt - Slipstream (2012)
EAC Rip | FLAC + CUE + LOG | 393 Mb | Covers | 57:54
Genre: Blues, Rock

Bonnie Raitt's new album Slipstream is daring, bluesy, and steeped with the inimitable slide guitar and soulful vocals that could only be hers. Out April, 10, 2012, Slipstream marks her first new album in seven years, and the debut for her newly minted label, Redwing Records. While most of Slipstream is self-produced and features Raitt's longtime touring band, four of the album s songs were helmed by celebrated producer Joe Henry and showcase his usual crew of extraordinary musicians. Additional guests include Bill Frisell, Al Anderson, Ireland's Paul Brady and Maia Sharp. The album's twelve tracks feature Raitt's renditions of songs by such luminaries as Bob Dylan, Joe Henry and Loudon Wainwright III. An updated, reggae-fied version of Gerry Rafferty's 'Right Down the Line' leads the charge as the album s first single.

Genre: Blues-Rock | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Grooveyard Records (GYR089)

Excellent debut disc by this first-rate blues/rock axeslinger from Hawaii featuring 9 tracks of killer, straight up, Texas-inspired, string bendin' guitar mojo. Produced by seasoned bassist Mark Epstein (Johnny Winter / Joe Bonamassa) who also lays down the low-end bottom kool on the dynamic "First Offense" disc. Includes a bad-ass, axe-rippin' live version of "Rock Me Baby" (Bonus Track). Highly recommended to fans of SRV, Johnny Winter & Joe Bonamassa.

Genre: Blues/Blues-Rock | Label: Eclecto Groove Records | Catalog Number: 505
RAR 5% Rec. | FilePost + Rapidshare | Release Date: Apr 21, 2009

The three pages of liner notes squished into eye-straining type that greet the purchaser of Jason Ricci and his band's highly anticipated follow-up to their roaring 2007 debut for the appropriately named Eclecto Groove label, boil down to this: it's a group effort with Ricci as only one component, and the members understand that their genre-mashing approach is not strictly blues, but they don't care. There's a lot more, of course, but one listen to this set that shifts from good-timey shuffles such as the sunshiny "Sweet Lovin'" to the jazz-rock fusion of the following "Holler for Craig Lawler" and the Latin influenced instrumental "Ptryptophan Pterodactyl" is enough to convince any newcomer that Ricci and co.....

Since then, however, he seems to have been making up for lost time. And, when you're 72, why wait? On The Screamer, he is accompanied by his regular blues band, led by bassist and songwriter Terry Davis. The band churns out familiar blues tunes....

Many of you are familiar with guitarist Shawn Starski from the series of memorable shows at Big Cities Lounge that he was involved with as a member of Jason Ricci's band, New Blood. Now Shawn gets the opportunity to step into the spotlight and he quickly shows that he is ready for the attention. Starski wrote all of the songs and handles most of the lead vocals, with his wife Elle taking over on two cuts. This is a very impressive first effort for Starski. He has delivered a strong batch of tunes and, no surprise, his guitar work is a consistent delight. A very well-done project that merits your attention.

Genre: Blues | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Self-released (PMG-CD-13)

Ordinarily, 20 years of making records puts you in a category with dinosaurs. However, since these are blues records we're talking about, it's more likely that Mike Goudreau & The Boppin' Blues Band could still be considered youths by the genres standards. The disc contains thirteen original tracks of what Mike calls "songs that range from swing to funk, from New Orleans to blues rock, with some southern soul and gospel thrown in for good measure". Special guest on this is Pierre Lacocque of the band Mississippi Heat from Chicago.
