Thank you for this incredible post. These albums done by the Curtis Counce Group are timeless. I've been listening to all 4 of them for more than 40 years and still love ALL the players. I just saw Jack Sheldon 2 months ago and he still plays great. The Curtis Counce Albums Defined each or these musicians as jazz greats forever. I just wish I had met Frank Butler the drummer as he was an incredible player. He was so subtle and such a time-keeper for the rest of the group. Frank, Curtis, and Carl set the foundation of the rhythm section for Jack and Harold to go forward in their solos. Jack said he was a "pretty wild guy" during the late 1950s.

Agree with Axel. Great pure jazz. Timeless!
Still have all 5 records of this group on vinyl.
4 on Contemporary and one on Boplicity - 'Exploring The Future'
IMO Carl's Blues is the best of all.
