One way or another, our small country
has seen the birth of a miracle - the Zone.
We immediately sent troops there.
They haven't come back.
Then we surrounded the Zone with police cordons...
Perhaps, that was the right thing to do.
Though, I don't know...'

Mining once again the science-fiction form for its potential to articulate, in metaphoric terms, spiritual and philosophical issues of crucial and recurring concern to him, Tarkovsky makes of Stalker a worthy successor and development of Solyaris.

Again too, the central mystery is a chiper, a room situated deep in a fecund, swamp like expanse of land, forbidden to trespassers by the government, and known only as the "Zone".

To penetrate the Zone and reach the room which has powers, it is whispered, to grant wishes, one must secure one of those few who know the treacherous jungle and its ways, who are called stalkers.

Into the Zone three men go, in search of the magical and sinister room. As with the living planet Solyaris, the room in Stalker is merely a pretext for the mobilization of the forces of memory and morality: the room is a place where the past and present mingle and become, almost imperceptibly, the same thing.

DVD version is two VIDEO_TS folders... You may burn them to 2 DVD-5 media using Nero...

w0lfgang, main maovie in original DVD is about 8 GB in size... if you squeeze it to a single CD or even in double CD, image quality would all be lost. Tarkovskiy is known as the beauty of images in his movies... so that would be unfair to him. I still feel sort of guilty that I dared to convert his beautiful film to XviD. I recommend you to download and watch the original DVD version.

Part 9 and part 28 (of the DVD9 version) is broken.

can you fix them up?
