The concept of aware systems is one of the most exciting trends in computing today, fueled by recent developments in pervasive computing. This book introduces a new breed of computer applications that are termed "context-aware pervasive systems" and provides architectural blueprints for building context-aware behavior into applications. It reviews the anatomy of context-aware pervasive applications, including mobile services, and discusses the integration of context-aware computing with software agents and the Web. It also explores the use of context-awareness for addressing and communications. This text distills general design principles and a generic architecture for context-aware applications.

Planar Antennas for wireless communications, Kin-Lu Wong
Wiley & Sons INC. | English | ISBN 0471266116 | 314 pages | PDF | 70.34 MB | 2003

Planar antennas, including microstrip and printed antennas and other types of antennas that arc flat in appearance and have a low profile, have recently received much attention for application in cellular communication systems, such as the global system for mobile communication (GSM: 890/960 MHz), the digital communication system (DCS: 1710-1880MHz), the personal communication system (PCS: 1850-1990MHz), the universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS: 1920-2170MHz), and wireless local area networks (WLANs) in the 2.4 GHz (2400-2484MHz) and 5.2GHz (5l50-5350MHz) bands. Many novel designs of planar antennas for related applications such as internal mobile phone antennas, base-station antennas, WLAN. or Bluetooth antennas, and so on, have been reported very recently, especially since the year 2000 (ISBN-13: 9780471266112).

iPhone: The Missing Manual
Publisher: O'Reilly Media | ISBN: 0596513747 | edition 2007 | PDF | 306 pages | 45,8 mb

As you'd expect of Apple, the iPhone is gorgeous. iPhone: The Missing Manual is a book as breathtaking as its subject. Written by New York Times columnist and Missing Manual series creator David Pogue, this book shows you how to get the most out of your new Apple iPhone.
The name iPhone may be doing Apple a disservice. This machine is so packed with possibilities that the cellphone may actually be the least interesting part. The iPhone is at least three products merged into one: a phone, a wide-screen iPod and a wireless, touch-screen Internet communicator. The iPhone's beauty alone may be enough for you to dig for your credit cards, but its Mac OS X-based software makes it not so much a smartphone as something out of the film "Minority Report."
The real magic, however, awaits when you browse the Web. You get to see the entire Web page on the iPhone's screen. All of this is cooked up with Apple's traditional secret sauce of simplicity, intelligence and whimsy.

Fundamentals of Wireless Communication
Publisher: Cambridge University Press | ISBN: 0521845270 | edition 2005 | PDF | 587 pages | 15,9 mb

This book aims to present modern wireless communication concepts in a coherent and unified manner and to illustrate the concepts in the broader context of the wireless systems on which they have been applied.
This book is written as a textbook for a first-year graduate course in wireless communication. The expected background is solid undergraduate/beginning graduate courses in signals and systems, probability and digital communication. This background is supplemented by the two appendices in the book. Appendix A summarizes some basic facts in vector detection and estimation in Gaussian noise which are used repeatedly throughout the book. Appendix B covers the underlying information theory behind the channel capacity results used in this book. Even though information theory has played a significant role in many of the recent developments in wireless communication, in the main text we only introduce capacity results in a heuristic manner and use them mainly to motivate communication concepts and techniques. No background in information theory is assumed. The appendix is intended for the reader who wants to have a more in-depth and unified understanding of the capacity results.
