Hot August Night is a 1972 live double album by Neil Diamond. ("Hot August night" is also the opening lyric in Diamond's 1969 single, "Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show".) It is a recording of a Diamond concert on Thursday August 24, 1972, one of ten sold out concerts that Diamond performed that month at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Critic Stephen Thomas Erlewin calls Hot August Night "the ultimate Neil Diamond record ... [which] shows Diamond the icon in full glory."

This live album remains one of the great classic live albums of all time.

Revolver is the seventh album by The Beatles, released on 5 August 1966. Many of the tracks on Revolver are marked by an electric guitar-rock sound, in contrast with their previous, folk rock inspired Rubber Soul. It reached #1 on both the UK chart and U.S. chart and stayed at the top spot for seven weeks and six weeks, respectively. It was released before the Beatles' last tour in August 1966, but they did not perform songs from the album live. Their reasoning for this was that many of the tracks on the album, for example "Tomorrow Never Knows", were too complex to perform with live instruments

Rubber Soul is the sixth UK studio album and the eleventh US release by the British rock band The Beatles. Produced by George Martin and released in December 1965, Rubber Soul had been recorded in just over four weeks to make the Christmas market. Track list changes to the USA release, including two acoustic songs held over from the previous album, Help!, gave the album a folk-rock feel, which critics attributed to The Byrds and Bob Dylan. The original UK release, however, shows the "soul" influence of the album's title. The album was seen as a major artistic achievement, attaining widespread critical and commercial success, with reviewers taking note of The Beatles' developing musical vision.

(including the singles "Help!" and "Ticket to Ride") and seven that did not. In 2003, the album was ranked number 332 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Beatles for Sale is The Beatles' fourth album, released in late 1964 and produced by George Martin for Parlophone, released on mono (catalogue number PMC 1240) and stereo (PCS 3062). The album marked a minor turning point in the evolution of Lennon and McCartney as lyricists, Lennon particularly now showing interest in composing songs of a more autobiographical nature. "I'm a Loser" shows Lennon for the first time seemingly coming under the influence of Bob Dylan, soon to meet him for the first time in New York while on tour on 28 August 1964

Please Please Me is the first album recorded by The Beatles, rush-released on 22 March 1963 in the United Kingdom to capitalize on the success of singles "Please Please Me" (#2) and "Love Me Do" (#17). Of the album's fourteen songs, eight were written by Lennon/McCartney, early evidence of what Rolling Stone later called "[their invention of] the self-contained rock band, writing their own hits and playing their own instruments.
