Jonas Hellborg launches a new platform for integration of east and west, a project called Art Metal. Borrowing the aesthetic of contemporary metal expanded with Indian and jazz improvisational disciplines, it is a proposal for what a new musical canvas could be. With long time collaborator, South Indian percussion master Selvaganesh, he explores this new path with two legends of the metal scene, Jens Johansson (Yngwie Malmsteen, Dio, Stratovarius) and Anders Johansson (Yngwie Malmsteen and Hammerfall). Completing the ensemble is Swedish guitar phenomenon Mattias IA Eklundh. The music has been slowly brewed over 18 months to find the spaces where the elements of the seemingly disparate musical traditions can comfortably coexist, even gel into new forms of sonic art.
Thanks Alot to Dr.Fusion & Dave Sez for this Gem!

2009 release from Eddie Vedder and the boys, their ninth album overall. For Backspacer, the lasting Grunge rockers decided to do it big. They left label J Records and decided to release to album themselves, since the certainly have enough money to do that. They also hooked up with ’90s Alternative Rock producer du jour Brendan O’Brien (Korn, Bruce Springsteen), the first time that the band has worked with O’Brien since 1998’s Yield. The music on the record features a sound influenced by pop and New Wave.

Very Fresh !

A Recent Gig of Avishai Cohen's Latest Album - Aorura Tour.
With the latest new album Aurora, Avishai Cohen has reached a certain essence of expression, using voice as a direct and powerful vehicle for his emotions.
Singing – in Hebrew, English, Spanish and Ladino. The music draws its source in the earth of his home country, at the crossroads of many cultures. Arab-Andalusian and Hebraic, it tells the story of Bedouins of the desert and speaks of life, love, youth and freedom.

Thanks To Dave Sez for this Great gig!

Ballads dominate the album, accounting for seven of the album's ten tracks; Hargrove generally interprets them in a cool, emotionally detached manner...Compiled from four albums whose recording dates span from 1989 to 1993, Approaching Standards...also documents Hargrove's growth as a musician. "Everything I Have is Yours/Dedicated to You," taken from the 1993 recording Of Kindred Souls, finds Hargrove in a more mature frame of mind, and points toward the much better albums he would soon make. ~ Dan Cross, All Music Guide

Trumpeter Roy Hargrove has the opportunity of a lifetime on this recording, sharing separate songs with five great tenors: Johnny Griffin, Joe Henderson, Branford Marsalis, Joshua Redman, and Stanley Turrentine.
Everyone fares well, including Hargrove's group (Ron Blake on tenor and soprano, pianist Cyrus Chestnut, bassist Rodney Whitaker, and drummer Gregory Hutchinson).
The young trumpeter (who is vying for Lee Morgan's unoccupied chair) keeps up with the saxophonists on this generally relaxed affair; recommended for hard bop fans.

No, this is not a new CD. It's a greatest of the truly greatest from one of today's top acts. There's something for every listener on this one: new, old, and just plain crazy! Check out what Incubus has to offer during their hiatus.
They have a catch phrase that follows them from CD to CD, concert to concert, fan to fan: Enjoy Incubus. And we have for almost two decades now (hard to believe it’s been 18 years total). From Fungus Amongus to Light Grenades, this US-native band has spawned countless hits that everyone can jam, smoke out, or chill to, over the course of their 6 studio albums. It’s not like you can escape them; they’re radio darlings, in their own right (God, “Pardon Me” was played every other song back in the day). To date, they’ve pushed millions upon millions of copies worldwide.

Innocent Bystander is a compilation by some fans from Italy with a good sense of balance, rare material and good audio quality. The main characteristic is that it focuses on many appearances of Eddie from 1992 to 2006 without Pearl Jam.Disc one opens with the excellent 'Masters of War' in the classic version of 1993 with Mike McCready at the Bob Dylan's 30th Anniversary. And it contains several songs from the Dead Man Walking Legacy Edition Soundtrack, that means we have: 'Face of Love' and 'The Long Road' with uncut versions with Nusrat F. Ali Kahn. Also it Includes a rare outtake of Ed Vedder with Hovercraft, the group with L. Beth, hymn, which appears in Kerouac's 1997 disc, passing through another classic acoustic: Yellow Ledbetter from the Tibetan Freedom Concert in 1997.....

For the first half of this EP, the singer and guitarist from Incubus each take a seat and do 3 acoustic versions from the "Make Yourself" disc. If you are familiar with the CD, then this EP will most likely be a treat. It is very nice to hear a different twist on the tunes, not to mention that the lyrics are well enunciated throughout the acoustic versions of "Pardon Me", "Stellar" and "Make Yourself". The profane words really ring out in the acoustic version. They are very stripped-down basic tracks, which is good for this setting.

Just as I expected, this Ep was excellent. It has the studio versions of A Certain Shade of Green and New Skin, as well as 3 live tracks. Hearing a band rock live says so much. The live songs are Hilikus, I want to be a hot dancer and deep inside. Hilikus and I want to be a hot dancer are coming from the Enjoy Incubus ep and Deep inside is track 11 on science. If you really dig incubus, this ep wont let you down.

Pearl Jam are explosive. Few American bands have arrived more clearly talented than this one did with Ten; and Vs. tops even that debut. Terrific players with catholic tastes, they also serve up singer-lyricist Eddie Vedder. With his Brando brooding and complicated, tortured masculinity, he's something we haven't seen in a while — a heroic figure. Better still, he's a big force without bullshit; he bellows doubt.

Like Jim Morrison and Pete Townshend, Vedder makes a forte of his psychological-mythic explorations — he grapples with primal trauma, chaos, exultation. As guitarists Stone Gossard and Mike McCready paint dense and slashing backdrops, he invites us into a drama of experiment and strife. "Animal," "Daughter" and "Blood," their terse titles urgently poetic, are songs of a kind of ritual passion, tapping into something truly wild.

If you're anything like me, you were one of those "cool kids" who heard of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Nirvana before anyone else that you knew, and exposed all your friends to this new wave of Seattle music primarily based around Sub-Pop Records in the early 90's. Then, once Pearl Jam got popular, they changed up their style a bit and got way too popular for such anti-mainstream grunge fans of the early alternative music era. It happened to me, and now I'm regretting being so damned pretentious.

Pearl Jam is proving that you can grow up, and your music can grow up with you. As a huge fan of "Ten", I moderately liked "Vs.", but after they got such a huge following, my angsty teenage grunge fan self didn't even give "Vitalogy" a chance, let alone any of their other subsequent albums. Then after hearing 'I Am Mine' on the radio a few months ago, I decided to give "Riot Act" a chance, and I was blown away by how much my musical tastes have changed, and how much I've grown over the past decade. Pearl Jam has embraced adulthood, the band members themselves now being a group of thirtysomethings, and it's once-teenage core fanbase now being a group of twentysomethings. Their current style reflects that change so much that it's amazing.
