The National Gymnastics Training Building in Alicante is representative of Miralles's regionalism. The C.N.A.R. initiated a new building type in which a large audience focuses on individual performances, and therefore requires a setting less formal than that associated with team sports. La segunda mitad del siglo XX ha sido testigo de un viraje importante en la práctica de la arquitectura, marcado por el agotamiento de la propuesta humanista del Movimiento Moderno y la eclosión de la Arquitectura del Espectáculo como respuesta al programa del marketing urbano y el mercado del entertainment. El resultado material de este proceso está a la vista: el deplorable espectáculo de las zonas urbanas crecidas en ese período. Pero un subproducto más alarmante ha sido el desvanecimiento del concepto mismo de arquitectura, que ha dejado a las actuales generaciones de estudiantes presas del equívoco universal que confunde cultura con pasatiempo y arquitectura con diversión formal.

George Ivánovich Gurdjíeff (en armenio: Գեորգի Գյուրջիև, en griego: Γιώργος Γεωργιάδης, en ruso: Георгий Иванович Гюрджиев), (Alexandropol, 13 de enero de 1872? – París, 29 de octubre de 1949), fue un maestro místico, filósofo, escritor y compositor, quien se autodenominaba "un simple Maestro de Danzas".

Nacido a finales del siglo XIX en la Armenia rusa, su principal obra fue dar a conocer y transmitir las enseñanzas del Cuarto Camino en el mundo occidental. Una personalidad misteriosa y carismática, con un agudo sentido crítico, y una elevada cultura tradicional, acaparó la atención de muchos, guiándolos hacia una supuesta evolución espiritual y humanitaria. Falleció el 29 de octubre de 1949 en Fontainebleau, Francia.
