Marvel Adventures is an imprint of Marvel Comics intended for younger audiences, including small children. Unlike the standard comics published by Marvel, which often take place in story arcs spanning several issues, each Marvel Adventures comic tells a standalone story. Marvel Adventures: Super Heroes is one of three titles currently being published, the others being Marvel Adventures: The Avengers and Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man. It features an eclectic mix of super heroes of the Marvel Universe thrown together in standalone stories that are independent of present continuity.

This one-shot comes from Marvel's online digital comic series "Monsters, Myths & Marvels" exploring the many such creatures and entities that populate the Marvel Universe. This time it's about the mythical savage creature known as the Wendigo. Both the Wendigo and Wolverine had their very first appearance in Incredible Hulk #180 (October 1974) which, for those who follow my posts, was reprinted in full in King-Size Hulk #1 (Released May 29, 2008) that I posted as part of the Hulk Vol. 2 current and complete series compilation (link in details). In that King-Size the Wendigo also appears in the main feature versus the Red Hulk.

+ Daredevil #116-500 - "Return of the King" Story Arc Complete

Daredevil along with Batman are two superhero properties where, ever since Frank Miller's deconstructions of their characters and mythos, creators are always inspired with the wildest and the boldest of ideas and storylines. In Daredevil #501 Diggle and De La Torre begin with a stark change in status quo: Matt Murdock has broken all ties with his friends and assumed leadership of The Hand, the deadly ninja cult he's been battling since the days of Miller and Klaus Jansen. It's a radical transformation, to be sure, but to drive home the bolt to help seal it Diggle has Daredevil undergo the final initiation that will make him truly the leader of The Hand. In issue #502, the second of Diggle's run on the Man Without Fear (3rd if you count the Dark Reign: The List special) we get to see what Diggle really is doing with the character: he is making Daredevil work within the context of both Ed Brubaker's previous run, and the current "Dark Reign" status quo of the Marvel Universe. Matt Murdock is not really deep into a dark abyss as some would have it; he is merely adjusting his crime-fighting to an increasingly brutal world, using the means available to him. In issue #503 Diggle with some dark visceral artwork from De La Torre shows Daredevil is not just adjusting, but willingly pushing it as far as he can, and more, as he cleans NYPD of its corrupt. And in issue #4, the conclusion to the first story arc since "Return of the King" we see Daredevil taking on Osborne's H.A.M.M.E.R. and again Diggle's characterizations and De La Torre's dark, granular artwork show what a hot and confident creative team at the height of their powers can do. All Minutemen scans.

+ Superman: Secret Origin Issues #1-3

Superman: Secret Origin is a six-issue monthly American comic book limited series written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Gary Frank that has long been announced but finally launched. Superman's origin story, most recently told in 2003's Superman: Birthright, has received numerous retcons and changes in the aftermath of the DC Comics event Infinite Crisis. As such, Superman's origin story in the current DC Comics continuity has yet to be told. This story therefore features what Johns and DC Executive Editor Dan DiDio are calling a "definitive" telling of the origin story of Superman, dealing with his life in Smallville, his first adventure with the Legion of Super-Heroes, his friendship and eventual bitter rivalry with Lex Luthor and his arrival in Metropolis and at the Daily Planet. Dan DiDio decided to have Secret Origin run as its own mini-series, instead of within a Superman title as Johns had done previously with Green Lantern: Secret Origin. DiDio said, "They’ll be doing the definitive origin of Superman as we’ve seen it all take place, and incorporating the changes that we’ve seen or suggested since Infinite Crisis." The series' first issue was released on September 23, 2009 and will run through March of 2010.

Supergirl aka Kara Zor-El is a fictional character appearing in comic books published by DC Comics and related media, created by writer Otto Binder and designed by artist Al Plastino. As Supergirl, Kara Zor-El serves as the biological cousin and female counterpart to DC Comic's iconic superhero Superman. Although there have been many precursors, the most prototypical being the Super-Girl character that appeared in Superman #123 (August 1958), the character actually first appeared in a story published in Action Comics #252 (May 1959) entitled "The Supergirl from Krypton." Since the character's comic book debut, Kara Zor-El's Supergirl has been adapted into various media relating to the Superman franchise including merchandise, television, and feature film, making her a cultural icon...

Action Comics is an American comic book series which introduced Superman, the first major superhero character as the term is popularly defined. The publisher was originally known as Detective Comics, Inc., and later as National Comics and as National Periodical Publications, before taking on its current name of DC Comics, a subsidiary of Time Warner. With 885 issues to date, it is the second-highest-number American comic book series, after Dell Comics' Four Color, although Detective Comics, also of DC and also still in publication, is the older title. Detective Comics however is the longest continuously published comic book in the United States. Action comics is second. More recently the title has been part of several interweaving and consecutive multi-title crossover story arcs, the current one being "World Against Superman." After Superman left Earth at the conclusion of the earlier "New Krypton" story arc, he is replaced by the new Nightwing and Flamebird as the starring characters of the series. Also since July 2009, Action Comics includes back-up stories featuring Captain Atom, now on its part 7.

+ Spider-Man: The clone Saga Issues #1-4 Complete

The Clone Saga or Spider-Clone Saga was a major story arc in Marvel Comics which ran from 1994 to 1996 involving many clones of Spider-Man. The story is considered within fandom to be one of the most controversial stories ever told for Spider-Man if not in the comics industry as a whole. The story was intended to wrap up in less than a year. However, the comics sold very well and the writers were encouraged to prolong the saga as long as possible. This led to some changes to the storyline that ultimately proved unpopular. To me there's only one word to describe it: shtoo-pid. That's what happens when creativity and creative freedom is thrown out the window because of greed. Spider-Man: The Clone Saga is the new six-part mini-series based on the outline of the original Clone Saga. Written by Tom DeFalco and Howard Mackie, and drawn by Todd Nauck, this "writer's cut" mini-series will explore the story as it was originally conceived, and will feature the original conclusion while focusing on the basics of the original saga.

Thor Volume 3 started with issue #1 released July 5, 2007 with cover date September 2007 and the latest issue is Thor #606 released January 27, 2010, which is the conclusion to the three-part story arc, "Latverian Prometheus". It is marked first of all by the run of writer J. Michael Straczynski who, together with artists Olivier Coipel and Marko Durdjevic, essentially took a moribund Marvel title, rebooted it and gave it a power boost, to make it one of, if not the strongest and best, of all current Marvel titles. As a whole Volume 3 has received consistently rave reviews from critics and fans alike, including record sales. A case in point is that IGN's highbrow but uneven reviewers started to regularly cover the title and not only that, began to consistently bestow Thor with its Editor's Choice Awards, giving it ratings ranging from "Great" to "Incredible"; so much so that Thor has been nominated for the coveted Eisner Award. Many thought after Straczynski left the title would suffer, but in these last three issues the creative team of Keiron Gillen and Billy Tan have proved with the given opportunity that they can indeed fill the shoes vacated by their illustrious predecessors, doling out a nicely balanced helping of grand action and character-driven plot. The energy given off by the climactic battle between Thor and Dr. Doom and the utter insidiousness of Doom and Loki in terms of story and visual impact are truly to be experienced. The Siege tie-in begins in Thor #607. Great stuff, high quality Minutemen scan.

+ Northlanders Issues #1-22 Complete

Northlanders is an American comic book series published by DC Comics under their Vertigo imprint. The stories are fictional but set in and around historical events during the Viking Age. Northlanders is written by Brian Wood, illustrated by various artists on a per storyline basis with painted cover art by Massimo Carnevale. The first issue of the series was published on December 5, 2007. Wood has said that the series will be divided into standalone eight issue story arcs separated by two-issue arcs. Northlanders does not have a true main character; the cast and setting change with each story arc. Issues #23-24 are the third and fourth, respectively, in the eight-issue story arc entitled “The Plague Widow.” After a full four issues of two-issue arcs, the series is back to its original format of longer stories placed squarely in the Viking lore. With each story arc, "Northlanders" follows a different character in a tenth- or eleventh-century setting where Vikings have made their mark; sometimes the protagonist is a Viking, as in the first arc, "Sven," while in others the heroes are fighting desperately to repel the Norse invaders. This series is one of the best monthly comic books, along with Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead. Both Minutemen scans.
